Filthy hole we came here from London with my 2 children aged 6 and 8. The beach is covered in sewage and literally poo floating in the sea! The locals are unfriendly and are either aloof or have mental health problems. Empty bottles and cans of alcohol fill the already over flowing bins which come from locals. Food overpriced more expensive than the West end. We won't be back. Dirty dangerous place.

So many great eateries and bars surround this beach which makes it the perfect day out! When the sun is shining you could very easily compare Viking Bay to any beach abroad. The sand is golden and soft and it’s SO clean! Dogs are not allowed on this beach however, just around the corner you will find a dog friendly area for your furry companion.

Beach police bark louder than most dogs!
Sep 2021 • Couples
Visited Broadstairs September 15-17. Had a quick walk from accommodation to the Pavilion in Viking Bay for breakfast. When we left with our dog we were let out of the pub via a gate that led onto the walking boards on the beach, these in turn led us onto a tarmac path to the rear of the beach. As we walked to the rear of the beach we saw a sign
Beach inspectors office. As we walked by we were shouted at “No dogs on the beach”. After asking where to get off it we were told to go back when if we just walked on we would have been off the beach. Also told “come back in October they are allowed on then”. Well let’s just say we spoke yo some wonderful people during our stay but the
“Inspector” wasn’t one of them

Break out of London
Aug 2021 • Family
Viking bay is a very nice beach. It was less than 5min walk from where we stayed, and surrounded by many top quality restaurants and gastropubs. Weather was 19/20 degrees but with no clouds, it really was suitable weather for the beach. One of the nicest sandy beaches I have been too in the UK.

Great for families
Aug 2021
This is the first time I have seen Viking Bay with the tide out and I didn't realise that there was so much seaweed. Still, as it is all at one end (the harbour end) it does not detract from the rest of the bay with its wide, sandy stretches. Great for families. Cafes and restaurants are available nearby.

Nice bay. Beach had plenty of people but not congested. Lots of seaweed visible when the tide is out but disappears when the tide comes in. Check parking bays on side streets if driving as some only allow a maximum of 2 hours but there are car parks around. Plenty of shops, bars, take aways and restaurants. Can easily spend the whole day there. Streets are clean. One of the public toilets at the end of the bay was very unclean toilet was really out of character for a lovely area. Local council needs to invest in the toilets as it is a lovely area.

Lovely Sandy beach and very picturesque town
Aug 2021
Viking beach is a lovely Sandy beach with lifeguards on duty. The area is very picturesque and retains its Victorian charm. Dicken stayed here and based one of his characters on an old lady that lived in the house that is now the Dickens museum
