About
The Capanna farm, owned by the Cencioni family since 1957, is situated in the Montosoli area, to the north of Montalcino. It was founded by Giuseppe Cencioni and, helped by his sons Benito and Franco, it was one of the first farms of the modern period of Brunello. They started bottling their own wines in the 1960's and right after Brunello di Montalcino was granted DOC status in 1966.

If you are visiting Montalcino you cannot miss this place. The winery is in a wonderful spot and the wines are sublime.
They also have a beautiful restaurant with incredible view and food.

Must do Experience in Tuscany
Aug 2020 • Couples
We have now visited Capanna on two separate occasions, the breathe taking scenery and amazing experience was too good to turn down on our second trip around Tuscany. Daniele our tour guide could not of done more to make our tour any better, managing to remember us from a year ago was a very personal touch.

Fantastic wine tasting
Jan 2020
My wife and I did a wine tasting at Campanna and truly enjoyed the experience. The winery is family-owned with three generations still living on the vineyard. Daniele was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, provided a great tasting, and even let us try an extra wine when we had questions about the differences in vintages. We'd recommend visiting Campanna to anyone visiting Montalcino.

Wonderful History with delicious wine
Jul 2019
We visited this winery as part of our honeymoon tour and we were not disappointed. Daniele gave us a tour where we started by seeing the vineyard and how the slope and sun determines where the grapes are planted. We then learned about the buildings on the property before entering the cellar. We ended our tour with wine sampling. Our family prefers white wine and even though it wasn't part of our tasting, we were able to sample the wines and ended up shipping some home. Our family loves the wine and wishes they could have joined us.

A must See!! Do not miss this one!
Jun 2019
Daniella, our tour guide and a man, was unbelievable. He gave us so much information in regards to his family business with him being the 5th generation. the building we started our tour in was 200 years old! it was truly amazing. he treated us like family, even though we did not have a reservation he was able to squeeze us in for a tour. there are many wineries in Tuscany, however Capanna is not to be missed. I visited 3 wineries and Capanna was my favorite. I spent over 200 US dollars on wine, but totally worth it as the wine was delish! Daniella also gave me his email address to order more wine direct. Awesome experience! will go back again

Truly awesome wine tour and experience
Jun 2019 • Couples
Extremely beautiful property, garden, flowers, and views. Makes for some great pictures. Really, really pretty place. Staff was very warm and knowledgeable about wine. It’s off the beaten path and kinda hidden making it a little more intimate and private – which we loved! They didn’t serve any snacks or cheese with the wine which was something that almost every other winery did for us, but that was not a huge deal. Daniele was a great host and we had a blast. The wine is excellent too and has won some very prestigious awards in Italy. Overall, we loved this place and would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

What a FANTASTIC experience
Apr 2019 • Couples
We took a tour and wine tasting and it was a fantastic experience. Our TOUR GUIDE was very knowledgeable about the different processes for Rosso, Brunello and Riserva. We were very impressed--so much so that we are having 12-bottles shipped back to the US! And, what a great treat when we were able to meet with the owner/founder of this winery! I will definitely visit here again!

Wonderful visit
Apr 2019 • Business
We hired a private tour guide, Franco Fadda, and this was our first stop. After being shown around the property we were treated to a private sit down tasting. The first wine was the White Sangiovese. It was AMAZING, we can't wait until it's bottled and sent. Next the Rosso has the most incredible nose! Got some of that too. So you get the drift, we were very happy with all the wines and bought altogether 2 cases.

Highly recommend our tour guide and also this Winery! BTW we are a winery and winemakers from California (2 couples both from the industry).

Amazing Experience!
Jan 2019 • Family
It was an amazing time visiting the Azienda! Even though the vineyards were not producing, we could understand more about Montalcino history, Brunello production, visit the cellars ans taste some great wines! Highly recommended!! You should book prior to visiting.

Exceptional experience at Capanna vineyard!
Oct 2018 • Friends
Me and my family visited Capanna in the very end of October. The weather was drastic but it didn't stop us from enjoying every minute in this fantastic place. The views are breathtaking and the property is very beautiful itself.
Daniele took a great care of us and provided us with the most complete information about the history of the vineyard and their wines. We had a degustation and their wines are very very good. We brought a few back home.
Thank you Daniele and Capanna for our unforgettable experience in Montalcino!
