It is a small very tidy new museum which cleverly displays the amazing varieties of all minerals metals and each reaches found in Milos . If you do not visit this Museum YOU CANNOT IMAGINE AND REALIZE THE RICHES AND DIVERSITY OF earth layers found in such a small island . Unbelievable

Very nice museum and an excellent example of science communication. Should visitors be interested in the geology of the island, I would recommend to people to visit it early on their trip so that they can recognise the rocks and formations they see later on. Otherwise, the uses of the mined materials is a very interesting topic in the modern world.

Interesting museum if you have the time

We were on an organized tour of the island which included a visit to this museum. It is a nicely curated and informative museum, especially given its compact size. One gets a glimpse of the geologic origins of Milos; the sociological, economic, and technological aspects of mining; and the various minerals which can be found on Milos.

What a wonderful little museum that provides a detailed history of mining and the lives of it's workers. Here, you will learn about geology and mining. The collection of rocks, stones and crystals is impressive and beautiful.

Very good explanations on the cards in greek and english. Go here to learn more about the geology and stone age of Milos. I'm not very interested in geology, but it was well displayed, they have beautiful stones and you understand more of the island in the end.

Even if you want to soak up all the sun, go to the museum to learn about the Geology of Milos, and its history in a modern museum. Very interesting and well presented.

Surprise treat
Sep 2019
When the guide says we are going to a mining museum, the expectations start out low. This place was well organized and had interesting and engaging exhibits. The geology of this island is surprisingly diverse leading to it being a major source of minerals from prehistoric times to the present.

Particularly heart wrenching is the plight of the island sulfur miners, who eventually worked with no pay in a futile effort to keep the mine going.

Hands-on exhibits where you can touch the various minerals such as kaolin are a nice feature.

Unexpectedly nice

I visited with my daughter expecting a tiny disorganized place called a museum. I was way off. The museum is decent size (you need 1.5 hrs) that is very well organized and has some nice collections. Great for kids. It also has a very good movie that shows the locals who worked in the mines of Milos. Very interesting overall.

Very interesting and well organised

Unlike most island museums that have one exhibition room this museum is very well organised. It showed you the mining history of the island and the relation of its people with rocks and metals since the ancient years. Very good selection of rocks and also had a movie about the life in the mines. I learned a lot and I was pleasantly surprised as I thought that I will be one of this museums with two exhibits only but you get three full floors of things to see. I would just like a more creative gift shop
