We had a 90-minute lesson with Ben from Nalu for our first surfing experience and it could not have gone better. Ben is patient and a great teacher. He had three beginners (us and another woman) who all turned out to have different aptitudes for the sport, but he was able to give everyone the attention they needed. We highly... More

I met Ben (owner of Nula) through a mutual business acquaintance/friend during my yoga retreat in Montezuma. Once I found out he was a surf instructor I of course made arrangements for lessons. On the day of my lesson he was nice enough to pick me up from my hostel and take me to shop where we got the board... More

If your going to rent a board this is best place. It was recommended by a local Tico friend. They have a lot of choices and the prices are good. I have had very bad experiences retuning boards at other shops in the area where they try and charge for preexisting damage. The staff here was very friendly upon returning... More

Ben was awesome, me and my friend did three days with him. I have surfed a bit before and my friend hasn't really done much other than surf the wash but we had a blast :) my friend was nervous about paddling out one of the days and he made sure she was comfortable which helped with the nerves. He... More

I took surf lessons with Ben on three days. I had surfed before but didn't feel confident enough to go surfing on my own. Ben gave me great advice and showed me good ways to improve my technique. He is quite serious about surfing but we still had lots of fun. I really enjoyed the time with him. Compared to... More

My sister and me have been in Santa Teresa together. She surfed before, I only did wind- and kitesurfing. I was a little afraid of beeing the only absolute beginner in our Group, but soon I discovered that there should not be any worries. Ben is an excellent instructor and we got the waves from our first day on. Even... More

I was so glad I took a lesson from these guys my first time surfing! It made a huge difference. They fit me in even though I hadn't made a reservation ahead of time and you can keep the board the rest of the day. The instructor was super knowledgeable and helped me figure out what I did wrong if... More

Little did we know that we WOULD be able to stand up on that board and ride some waves. Ben gave us such excellent instruction and patiently helped me succeed despite some trepidation on my part. My husband was soon up and away on his own but I needed a bit more of a push to catch the waves. It... More

The guys who taught our group gave us amazing tips when we went to Santa Teresa. The beach also has 3 breaks so they were the perfect waves for beginners. They made sure to walk you through how to get up and then they went out to sea with you to make sure your board was lined up properly and... More

I booked my adult daughter a surf lesson at Nalu which is the shop that was recommended by our hotel staff at Casa Marbella. Nalu was at the bottom of the hill from the hotel and across the street from the beach so the location was very convenient for us. I did no research regarding surf shops and didn't bother... More
