Our visit was a cold, dreary day with Mt Ruapehu covered in cloud for most. However, the walks to the various falls below in Whakapapa National Park were worth the effort. When the sun shone later the volcano covered in snow and ice was breathtaking.

We were travelling as a group with three kids, so were a little sceptical. But this place is amazing and we enjoyed a lot. They have activities for everyone. We decided to do sledging which the kids also enjoyed. There are options for skiing, which...More

Never go to Tukino Skifield on Mt Ruapehu. Location is hard to find, road is extremely bad. They advertise that they accept snowboarders but they really don't. They discriminate towards non-white, foreigners and snowboarders. If you tick more than one box, it is a big...More

First of all start with the positives. Went for some spring snowboarding and was pleasantly surprised with the terrain options, the size and scale of runs. Had lots of fun despite slushy spring snow. The slopes didn’t feel too crowded either even though it was...More

This was a trip really for my Wife, who is Indonesia, and had never experienced snow before. Since we weren't skiers or snowboarders we just wanted to enjoy the experience of the SNOW, and going up the sight seeing chairlifts. Our previous 2 days were...More

Great place to go for skiing - although queues for the lifts are sometimes long (cannot blame everyone for wanting to be there) the lifties are great, the chairs safe and yes! the snow magnificent at the moment. Easy to get to car parks and...More

You can either hike after taking the highest chair lift, but it is still a decent hike. Or you can take a scenic flight, there are several flight operators working from Taupo and National Park/Whakapapa village
