Worth a visit if you are in the area

Natural pillars of sandstone - reminded me of Capuddocia in Greece but on mini scale. There are pillars elsewhere but these are exceptional. I have difficulty walking uphill so the guide drove higher up and took me on a path through one of the villages, then down again. it is a pity buildings are beginning to encroach on the area but it is still worth a visit.

You can walk there from town but that's a long and steep walk, worth it because of the views!
Stone formations look bizarre and in different shapes and colours.

What a trip!

These are natural formations developed over hundreds of years. You'll need to be prepared for a hike especially if one of the neighborhood "guides" offers to lead you. But it's worth it and except for the little you'll pay the guide the only other cost is getting there. We rented a taxi for the day. It was less expensive than the tour and you got to go where we wanted.

Natural wonders

A great experience of Huancayo's setting in the Val de Mantaro which is also near to the city: extraordinary natural formations which seem like buildings ruined or modern sculptures. Roam with a freedom from Health and Safety restrictions some of us know elsewhere!

Hard to get up the hill due to lose rocks in the road but the sight is beautiful and you can do some hiking to get different angles!

These rock formations are truly stunning. They definitely give honor to their name as they tower very high surrounded by beautiful scenery, blue skies and you will even find sheep pasturing at the very top. Getting to the highest section is so worth it! You will see a breath taking view of Huancayo city with the surreal appearance of these towers.

Absolutely stunning

These formations are absolutely stunning. I would have liked to walk through them, but two locals stopped me while walking there and told me it was unsafe, that people get robbed. I'm not one to give in to fear, but I was bit too paranoid to walk down into the site by myself given these warnings. However it was great to walk up there and see the "torres" from above. Also interesting to walk through different parts of Huancayo to get there and get a glimpse of daily life.

Something to visit!
Jan 2014 • Friends
This place reminds me of the grand canyon site, in a smaller scale of course!
We visited during the day and it was amazing climbing this mountains and seeing the towers.
We took a taxi from el Cerrito, the road was very rustic and almost unknown, the taxi driver had to ask several times to people to know how to get there, but we arrived and it was fun. We asked the taxi driver to wait for us, to get back to the city as I heard that this is a dangerous place. Despite the fact that nothing has happened to us, I think in fact it can be dangerous for tourists.
Definitely, this is a place to visit, but be careful.
