While this pyramid is not as large as Kinich Kakmo pyramid, it is one of the most preserved pyramids in the area. This pyramid is also much easier to climb. There is also a nice shaded seating area at the base of the pyramid.

Right in the middle of the city surrounded be homes is an ancient pyramid that overlooks the city. When my wife and I climbed the ruins we were all alone with the exception of two local young girls playing on one side. Although we were...More

This city and their ancient ruins were a good surprise for us. The pyramids here are an expression of Maya religiosity. The Spanish colonists chose Izamal as the site for an enormous Franciscan monastery, which still stands at the heart of the town. This city...More

These ruins are very tall, and you'll be walking up a lot, but the view from the top is worth it. As part of a trip to the town of Izamal, this is a stop that should certainly be included. I recommend bringing bug spray....More

After climbing on few stairs you will see nice panorama of Izamal and one mayan ruin (it is possible to climb on it). The exposition to direct sunlight can be an issue (there's no place where you can hide from the sun).

Easy To Climb, I ran up from the street in 10 minutes.Nothing really spectacular, but if you have the time you might as well do it. Also its right next to the restaurant Kinich El Sabor de Izamal.

The largest of the Mayan ruins within Izamal, the site is not manicured like some others in Yucatan. It is free, within a few minutes walk of the central cathedral, and a gorgeous view from the top. You can see other small ruins from the...More

These are not the most spectacular ruins, but some of the most unique because they are within the town. That is, they are sandwiched between homes and businesses! Don't miss Izamal Ruins and spend at least one night in the town!
