Short stop-over in the medieval village of Pedraza.
Sep 2017 • Solo
Arriving on the village sign “Pedraza”, just keep following the main road who will lead you through the medieval gate into the walled village. From here keep your left and you will arrive on the parking places for the car, and from there you already will see the castle, and from the car-park everything is done by walking. The “Zuloaga Museum” you will find on the inside of the castle. About the castle we can tell that the original building of the castle dates from the Romans time and that is was the base for being a Muslim fortress. Later on it became additional fortifications during the Middle Ages. Today, the towers remind us what this castle once was. During our short stop-over in Pedraza we did not got the time to visit it on the inside, anyhow even that our stay was short we loved the environment of the village, when it is open you can get some more information about Pedraza in the Tourist Office in the village.

Interesting Castle - museum depends on taste in art

The castle is interesting if with a guide. It has a long history.
The museum containing art by Zuloaga is well set up and interesting although I personally was not over impressed by his work.

Interesting but skimpy

I enjoyed the short visit to the museum which is within the walls of the castle and what there was to see is interesting, but there isn't that much. The entry fee to the castle includes the museum so while there it's worthwhile visiting.

Very Interesting

We went recently and saw the Museo Ignacio Zuloaga, located in the castle. There are guided tours every hour after 4 or 5 pm, depending on the season. The castle is quite big and is well maintained. The little museum is located on the second floor, where there is a little porch. There are not many paintings of Zuloaga in the museum, but the ones that are there are very good. He was one of the best painters of the 20th century in Spain.
