We only viewed the church from the outside, but we wanted to see one stave church while in Norway so this fit the bill. We then did the walk/hike that leads from the church to the old king's road which was nice.

The medieval stave churches are a wonder of Norway. Very few survive and it is moving to see these wooden cousins to the Githuc churches of Europe. Also wonderful hikes available that start at the church.

Where did you rent the car in Flam to get to the church - public transit seems like a hassle and would only give us 20 minutes at the church for almost 2 hours of travel. Any advice would be welcome!
