Recently my husband and I visited Chianti during the harvest period. Instead of staying in a hotel we opted for what the Italians call an “Agriturismo” called Castello di Meleto in Gaiole in Chianti. It was actually a very old castle (about 800 years old!)...More

Castello di Meleto is one of the major castles in Chianti, but that could not make up for the utterly unprofessional service, or lack there of, that we encountered. The rooms were unkept: very dusty with spider webs. They were unhelpful and exhibited an attitude...More

Drove up to the Castello. Parking was good. The venue is obviously designed for weddings etc as there was heaps of parking and a separate area for functions. I can see why as it is a beautiful area. The wine shop was well presented and...More

Visit Castello di Meleto for an insight into how the Tuscan’s protected their land. Look for the holes in the castle walls where the arrowheads would be released to protect the Castello. Also a great wedding venue!

We had the castle and its buildings to ourselves over a three day period for the wedding of one of our friends and had a fantastic time. Great accomodation, fantastic food and wine and great staff. Highly recommended

We had a three day celebration of our wedding at Meleto, and it was just fantastic. Siena allow civil ceremonies, so we could have a full legal marriage on the beautiful grounds overlooked by the stunning castle. The catering at the castle is wonderful, with...More
