Only spent a half day here, but enjoyed the walk around this old fishing village. Definitely visit the fish market, the indoor local products market and have a nice lunch or dinner. Talk with the locals and wander about. I noticed a man making fish...More

Gallipoli is a charming historic town. We enjoyed walking around the old streets and enjoying the architecture. One of our favorite things to do when we visit a town is to just wander and Gallipoli offered much to enjoy. It was great to visit the...More

The old city in Gallipoli is magical. Well preserved. You can enjoy a great walk , a great view of the clean Ionian Sea. Restaurants can de found at any corner. We have tried 3 on 3 different night. They all had delicious food!

Although we found the castle and the old olive mill (ipogeo) closed, we enjoyed our walk through the laneways admiring the details of the balconies and the Greek looking architecture, the Leccese baroque of the cathedral facade and the panorama around the port itself. Love...More

Doesn't take too long to walk around this peninsula. You can't drive, though - park outside. Nice family atmosphere. Very busy on summer weekends.

We spent a couple of days in Gallipoli and it was very pleasant to wander round the old city. Once you leave the main tourist, and shopping area, it is soon realised that this is a ‘lived in’ city and you become aware of local...More

We were recommended to visit and so glad we did as the old town and the ancient city walls give a real perspective to the way they lived their lives in the 16th century

We preferred the white locations like Locorontondo and Cisternino but Gallipoli is far better than the decayed old town of Taranto.

I saw several reviews, but I thought this was a beautiful town. When you get to the old you appreciate that is has been an old fishing port for thousands of years. I enjoyed seeing the old fishing boats, old men selling sea sponges and...More

Hello The peninsula is a ZTL and at least we where informed by our agent not to drive there. Since we had our B&B on the peninsula we were allowed to load and unload close to the apartment.
