We were NOT expecting this
Dec 2018 • Couples
We popped into the church of San Maurizio in Milan after seeing The Last Supper. We'd been told about it by the guy in the information centre when we asked for directions. It looks - and is - very small but, oh my goodness, we were not expecting the interior. It's absolutely staggering, quite amazing and very, very beautiful. Highly recommended

Worth the climb!

Ambient place of worship with amazing views. This is a lovely, historic town to visit! Consider including Pinerolo when exploring Piedmont.

Ancient church, now a Minor Basilica..

..located on the hill right above the city and overlooking the plains.... It's a MUST SEE in Pinerolo: not too easy to get to, for the road is very steep and winding (should be no problem with GPS, though) or by foot. Once you get the there you will be rewarded by the sight of the church itself, Romanesque, ancient (dating back to more than a thousand years ago), but above all, when you move to the back, on the outside, by the Sanctuary and its terrace, by the spectacular view of the very Western side of the Pianura Padana, spanning from Monviso and the Cotian Alps to the West, to the Maritime Alps, some 100 km to the South and partially to the City of Turin, with its Collina Torinese and the Superga Basilica, half covered by the Collina di Piossasco, to the East. It's a must also to choose a clear, possibly windy day, during late spring, summer or early fall, as the landscape of the Pianura will literally glimmer before your eyes.

One of the landmarks in Pinerolo

A beautiful church , very ancient and spectacular with its ample spaces , but allowing the faithfuls the necessary ambience of a sacred place . Many works of art decorate the different altars , and its bell-tower is a masterpiece in itself .

Another spectacular Italian church

Beautiful old church in central city. Worth a visit....There are a couple of other small museums worth a visit and Sistriere is about 45 minutes away, a lovely ski resort town. This town is also a staging for the Tour de France, I believe.
