Lovely church in a quaint village
Oct 2019
The stop at this church is a must, as it sits very impressive in a quaint little town with the same name. If you go up the stairs, you get a great view of the Danube and The Valley. Both the architecture and the interior of the church are very impressive. The stairs look bewildering but is not so hard to get to the top

Famous tour at the white church in Weißenkirchen
Oct 2019 • Couples
The main church in the heart of Wachau gives the name to the village following the small white tower. Within the church you found a lot of small but beautiful mostly baroque gems. If you got the change take a tour to the big tower and enjoy looking over the Danube river

Lovely village and beautiful church
Aug 2018 • Couples
Lovely little village on the banks of the Danube. Walk up through the narrow streets to this ancient church. Cobbled square by the steps up to the church.

Lovely walk to the church
Oct 2017 • Couples
Weissenkirchen is such a lovely and picturesque village. What stands out in this viillage is the white church. The current facade of the church dates back to the 16th century. It was a really nice leisure walk up to the church and from there take a glimpse of the scenic view of the valley.

White church and tower dominate the landscape
Nov 2017 • Solo
Weissenkirchen means "White Church" and is the name of the Gothic church which sits high above the village. The church was built in the 14th century. A defence tower was added as a fortification for the village in 1531. The church, atop the hill, is reached via a series of covered steps.

Church within a church
Aug 2017 • Couples
This large church in the center of town is kind of interesting in that they built a larger church around the smaller white church tower. You have to climb a steep staircase to get into the buildings. Inside are unadorned walls but lovely statues and an interesting altar with a lot of gold decorations. Rather plain compared to alot of churches in Europe, but nice to visit.

Highlight of a walking tour of Weissenkirchen.
Sep 2016 • Couples
This charming little town gets its name from the white tower of the 14th Century fortified church. A good part of the fortifications remain, and the interior is very nice.

A fortified church towering over a charming village
Jul 2016 • Couples
You reach the church through a steep covered stairway from the village square. The setting is quite dramatic, with a great few from the fortified churchyard.

Majestic Edifice
Aug 2015 • Couples
In the grand scheme of things, this may be a small church as some have said. But seen from the river, in the context of the quaint towns hugging the sides of the Danube throughout the Wachau Valley, it looks quite impressive and beautiful.
