Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I (Canadians) visited RMS Antiques and Brass, September 19, 2024. A beautiful store filled with stunning art and unique gifts. Madhu was very helpful and knowledgeable about his products. I purchased a unique pendant...silver pendant, the shape of Sri-Lanka with a blue sapphire stone embedded on the pendant. We had a wonderful experience shopping in this store. If you are visiting Ella, Sri-Lanka, try to make a stop at RMS Antiques and Brass. Cheers!😀

After stopping in for a brief tour, we ended ourselves staying for an hour! I'm happy with both the pricing and the quality of the tiny presents we purchased. We really liked our visit and had a great time playing the guitar.

We visited Madu twice during our stay in Ella. It's a great little shop full of interesting and fairly priced items and Madu is very knowledgeable. He was very involved looking after a sick stray dog some tourists had rescued...on our second visit Madu was pretty upset because someone had reviewed him poorly re the dog. Most unfair! He had actually closed the shop just to go get medicine for it...shows how dangerous it is to comment without all the facts. He depends on reviews and word of mouth so this is very important to him.
Anyway keep up the good work Madu and hope the dog gets better!
Ps we love the elephant we bought!

The shop is small and run by one local man (I think his name was Madu). Everything is handcrafted locally and the shop is 100% Sri Lankan. The antiques are all very nice and make great souvenirs or gifts. However what we loved about it was the owner. We ended up spending about half an hour chatting to him, and he is welcoming, knowledgeable, interesting and hilarious. We recommend you take the time to pop your heads into this great little shop.

In this overrated touristy town there is only one shop worth going to and it's this one.
Madu will give you the background story of all the interesting objects he sells (and chooses carefully himself) as well as the opportunity to have an insightful conversation about..anything really!
Highly reccomended - the right place to find souvenirs and more :)
Thanks Madu! You're the best

Came across this shop on our stay in Ella. It seemed like a souvenir shop from outside but you will notice that it is more than a souvenir shop once you are inside. Madu, the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. He will able to talk to you about the antique pieces he owns and even give you recommendations on what to do in Ella! He sells gems as well with certificate of authenticity. A great shop to visit!

It's not bad, but it's just a normal tourist souvenir shop. It shoudn't be on here at all. Who on earth put it on here? The owner? You're not going to Ella just to buy a souvenir are you? You want to see things you can't see elsewhere.
