We took the Ferry from Fajardo to Vieques island and we could not believe only took us $4 round-way per person. $2 is for an hour ride. The ticket window was open at 7:30am but it's better to get in the line before it's open during the weekends and holidays. Security would check luggage and they would direct loading. Restrooms... Very upsetting. We are senior citizens and were awaiting the ferry to Vieques Island. Security directed us to sit in well marked senior citizen seating area. Some psycho lady started yelling at us because we were sitting in the resident area and we were simply tourists. Others joined in on her rampage. Security said we were where we belonged, but... I was very apprehensive as I had read horror stories myself on TripAdvisor prior to our trip. But it just goes without saying, if you do your research and are actually prepared for your trip, if you have a strategy for the ferry, you should have no issue getting tickets. My husband and I gave ourselves a full 2 hours... More

We took the ferry to Culebra Island. Culebra was recommended to us as having the best beaches and being a little more laid back than Vieques, so that's what we chose. Cheap trip, but there are a lot of drawbacks. We went in November which is off season. I was told that in season, the line starts as early as... More

The ferry has gotten a poor reputation it seems, but everything worked out just fine. Yes, it was good to arrive early, and you have to wait. Just like anything else. The facilities are not as modern as one might see in the mainland US, but they worked just fine. The interior was set a little cool, but that also... More

After reading reviews about the ferry I was even not sure if we should try to get in. But travelling on Monday and off-season (October 31st) we've decided to give it a try. We have arrived at 8am for 9am ferry and there was no line, none at all!!! Only 1/3 of the seats were occupied. So, my advise, travel... More

Yes its a chaotic mess. You leave San juan at 3 am. You wait in line for hours. You get 2 people away in line from the ticket window and they call out that the ticket sales are closed for Culebra until the 3PM ferry. You cry a little bit. Consider taking a 100 pp plane ride. Cry some more... More

It was a very enjoyable ride. Very nice people navigating. Very friendly passengers. I would use this mode of transportation again.
