Amazing place & great views
Sep 2019
The bastion in Bonifacio is just amazing and the views are magnificent.
The 2.50 euro entrance to get up on the bastion is well worth it.
We loved Bonifacio and climbing up around the bastion gives you such magnificent views we will never forget.

What an amazing place

Take train if the walk is too much, long climb by stairs or up a slope of shallower steps. Walk the ramparts for great views.

Dominant image of the city

The citadel can be seen from everywhere in Bonnifacio and this bastion is the main feature of it. From the marina one can easily climb upto it. The views from here of the marina and the rest of town are stupendous. Not to be missed or rather you will not be able to miss it once in Bonnifacio

Interesting rollers?

just behind the gate. It is some kind of mechanism that probably rolled down to shut the gate. Huge Genovese bastion. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful city reminiscent of Venice

Beautiful city with little cobbled streets and amazing views down onto the harbour! The Bastion gives you some of the best views over Bonafacio and is an interesting part of history. If visiting I would recommend taking a packed lunch as restaurants are extremely pricey!

Interesting

As you walk up to the citadel from the port, this is the first thing you come to as you enter the citadel. It is worth the small price. (2.50 Euro or combined ticket with escalier du Roy for 3.50). Fabulous views and some interesting history. It’s worth a wander around before heading into the old town.

Bit of history, a lot of spectacular views
Jul 2018 • Family
I think everyone agrees that Bonifacio is a beautiful city, perfect to wander around through the little streets and just discover the city with its restaurants and little shops. Beside this, there is not so much really to visit. One of the only real monuments is the bastion. Ticket price is low (I believe 2.5 euro) so we didn't expect too much. Once you have entered, you can take from the main square some stairways down deep into the belly of the bastion. There are some information boards giving you a bit of history of the town and the bastion. Interesting but the highlight of the bastion is for sure its multiple viewpoints. There are already some nice views from the windows inside the bastion, but there are more from on the top giving you a 360° view over Bonifacio. That alone is already worth the admission price. It's also a bit more quiet here compared to the other parts of the city...

Magnificent views
Jun 2018 • Couples
Steep climb to the top of the Bastion but the views are magnificent. On one side you have a fabulous panorama of the harbour and the wealth of boats docked there... on the other side you have rock formations rising from the sea and a hazy view of Sardinia.
