We visited the famous Wiljeongsa Temples set among the Fir trees forest by taxi from Alpensia ski fields. The bridges crossing a small stream to reach the temples has the best scenic views. Within the temples ground, perhaps it was the day we visited, there was little snow, the forests looked yellowish due to winter season. Temples are on smaller... More

A korean friend of mine said she had experienced temple stay at Woljeongsa Temple before and it was an amazing place to be at. I would really love to experience that one day. Been there and loved the nature surrounds! It's like a disconnection from the busy city and you focus just on yourself within the nature.

This is a very sacred place for the Buddhist. You can see monks praying, so be respectful and also take off shoes. The area is quite beautiful.

We went to Woljeongsa in the summer time. The serenity and nature was stunning. An english-speaking guide walked us through the program and helped us setting up a tea ceremony with one of the monks. He also helped us understand the Korean Buddhist service (at 4:20am and in the afternoon). We were free to roam and to skip anything in... More

I'll start off with the templestay experience and then talk about the temple itself. We had gone there in the middle of winter, January to be exact. There were 3 other foreigners including the 2 of us in the group. While there were aspects of it that were interesting, it was not what we really expected. The program included bead... More

We visited the temples while in Pyongyang for a break from the slopes and it was so beautiful! We had 2 adults and 3 kids including a teenager and it cost 13,000 won (<$13 US)- the booth attendant spoke some English. The buildings are so colorful and fascinating, pretty against a snowy backdrop, and the sound of someone chanting in... More

The temple is in the heart of the Odea-san National Park and a gem of a visit. I've lived in Korea three times over the past 15 years and can't find a better temple (besides Haein-sa) with amazing scener, a variety of hermitages, and great hiking. The restaurants on the outskirts of the park are amazing. Do yourself a favor,... More

I went there for a temple stay. I am not buddhist but love to learn about other religions and cultures and this was perfect. It was relaxed (but take a book! There's a lot of down time), the food was beautiful and waking up at 4.20am (not compulsory) to pray with the monks of the temple was something I will... More
