Tey was a superb tour guide. As others have said his English is fluent and he is incredibly knowledgeable about the various sites in the Plain of Jars area.

We contacted Tey via whatsapp after reading the reviews. He responded quickly and gave us several tour options with prices and even offered to pick us up when we arrived in town. We booked for 1 day and wanted to see how we liked him before booking for additional days but shortly after meeting him we knew we liked him and his style so we booked a second day. He speaks English, is very knowledgeable about the area, polite, good driver, and funny. We would definitely recommend using his services. There is a lot to see and do around the entire Phonsavan area and I'm glad we went.

I can only endorse what other people have said. Mr Tey acquired us (unordered) at the airport when we arrived and very glad we were, too. He gave us the full day tour to sites 1,2 and 3 plus other places of interest. Very informative, helpful to a slightly disabled tourist (me), speaking excellent English, charging reasonable rates. Someone like him is essential if you are to get full value from the Plain of Jars. Returned us to the airport. He has a brother who is also a guide/driver if he is not free. 11 out of 10.

My Plain of Jars in Phonsavan with Tey Lassada (see his profile + reviews here on TripAdvisor or message him directly via Whatsapp at +856 20 22 946 979) was a unique, memorable, and enriching experience I’ll never forget. Tey took care of everything so that all I needed to do was enjoy the peaceful, beautiful, mysterious and haunting Jars sites — and the many other destinations he took me to on our day. I got to Phonsavan via a minivan from Vang Vieng. (The drive is beautiful but so long — I wish I’d just flown from Luang Prabang to Phonsavan, but instead I journeyed by a crazy bus from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng and then a couple days later took a minivan from VV to Phonsavan, but that is another story.) Tey pickup me up at the Phonsavan bus station (he was waiting with a sign with my name on arrival) and then he took me to check out a guesthouse (I was exhausted and happy to just stay there, but he would have driven me to others until I chose one). He then sat me down and outlined our itinerary for the next day (our tour day) and then suggested some activities and restaurants for my first night in Phonsavan. Our tour day started relatively early, with a 7:30am pickup at my guesthouse. We went to the morning market, which was hectic and full of colorful (figuratively and literally) food on sale. Tours do not go here and I did not see any westerner there but myself! Tey bought me some “cookies” (various baked goods eaten in Laos as breakfast items) and a delicious roll of sticky rice inside bamboo that was one of the food highlights of my time in Laos. We then proceeded to Jars site 1, getting there before the crowds. After site 1 we drove out to see the old capital, visited Noodle village (another stop unique to Tey, which also helps the local economy), then on to the Bomb Spoon-Making village (try your hand at making a spoon from molten aluminum recovered from unexploded ordnance), lunch along the way (made from the fresh noodles we’d purchased earlier in the day!), and finally Jars Sites 2A, 2B, and 3 (timed, again, to avoid any crowds). Tey then drove me back to my guesthouse in Phonsavan’s main strip, where I fell asleep satisfied from an incredible and full adventure of a day exploring the Plain of Jars and villages around Phonsavan.

I had a fantastic day with Tey. I saw 3 of the bar sites and also the old capital a xcellent. He has an immaculate vehicle and has water and umbrellas (to fend of the sun). I found the price a little expensive given that it is in US dollars and the Aussie dollar exchange rate is so low. My favourite part of the tour was a stop to a local morning market. The jar sites were also incredible and the reason for my visit to Laos. Overall a great day and Tey will go out of his way to make your day enjoyable as well as assist you with any of your needs during your stay. Thanks Tey!
