The cave is a nice hike and it’s cool.
Pay the 10,000 kip and use their flash flight it makes a huge difference. There are spray planted arrows to follow which makes it easier but once you hit the end the rocks are a bit slippery on the way back.

The lagoon is nice, but very busy. The restaurants around it are expensive. The better priced out of the two is on the far side by the cave entrance.

Four of us started ... only two of us made it to the end !

The cave entrance is up a fairly steep path ... and once you get inside it's seriously slippy - flip flops probably aren't a good idea !

Once you get deeper inside it gets seriously dark ... a little torch probably isn't a good idea (hire one at the start of the path to the cave entrance).

The cave itself isn't that big, or that stunning - but it's great to be able to wander around on your own.

Afterwards we had a nice soak in the pools, and enjoyed watching the crazy diving antics!

Was very much Looking forward to seeing blue lagoon as before my trip heard it was fantastic and a must do while in Vang Vieng It was very underwhelming.

It’s more like a theme park for hooligans, with all the gimmicks of swings and jumping from platforms etc.

It would be much better if they took away all the gadgets around the lagoon and made it just a peaceful place to swim in the refreshing water and lay in the sun.

The noise was horrible with people screaming while jumping from platforms and swinging around.

Cave was fun and worth doing. I would maybe see if blue lagoon 3 further down the road is more peaceful for a swim.

The cave is worth a visit and is very interesting. However, the blue lagoon although pleasant is basically a natural swimming pool that has a double level diving/jumping platform (a tree), a swing into the water and an area with restricted depth for smaller children - if you like noise, crowds and want some fun jumping into the lagoon (not much room to swim) then it's fine. An added bonus is that there are lots of fish up to 25cm long that are happy to swim around you.

Not a beautiful or peaceful place to relax and swim. It's basically full of Koreans flapping about in life jackets like dying fish! Not really the ideal way to explore the area to be honest and it's likely to disappoint most visitors unless you just love those super touristy places. However, if you do find yourself here the silver lining is that the tree jump is pretty fun and a good height to mess about on!

Felt a great sense of achievement making it through the whole cave and we really felt like we had it all to ourselves. We all hired flashlights which was a must. It’s not an easy path for three small kids 4, 5 & 7 and definitely some slippery spots and potential steep falls, but they made it to the end with no mishaps and only one small meltdown when mum went off searching for the next arrow we couldn’t find :)
Blue lagoon was quite full the day we were there (pimai) and mostly loaded up with people in life vests. We thought it was quite cold (and the kids weren’t a fan of the fish) so the kids just loaded up their water pistols and shot bystanders. Good fun, but we went back to the hotel for a swim in the warmer waters.

Nice place for your activities. After chilling in the blue lagoon you can climb up to the cave. The weather inside case very breezy and fresh. You should bring a flashlight to explore the deeper side parts of the cave

Well done Judocarli! That’s the way to raise intrepid kids! We followed your advice and hired the head torches from the stall at the foot of the steep scramble “path” to the cave entrance. Very glad we had them. Otherwise pitch black beyond the first huge chamber and the picturesque Buddhist shrine. Phone torches completely inadequate. Like you we followed the sometimes difficult to find arrows to the far end of the mind-bogglingly huge cave (at least twice the volume of St Paul’s Cathedral in London). We too had a bit of a melt-down when we couldn’t find the next one on the return route. Unlike your wife, we still couldn’t find it after a few minutes searching, but luckily we managed to improvise and find an eventual link to the entry route. More arrows would have been welcome. Other caves have better formations, but this one is mightily impressive simply on account of its huge scale. Blue Lagoon 1 was busy, commercialised, and great fun. Lots of people, but still plenty of room for a refreshing swim.

I rented a car and went around Blue Lagoon 1 to 3. I think Blue Lagoon 2 had the warmest water temperature. Please note that there are some places in Vang Vieng where the road is impassable. The local internet connection was poor, so Google Maps did not connect well, but Google Maps also showed the impassable areas. I recommend checking the details when you rent a car.

After reading the reviews here we decided that the cave would be too much for us as one of us has an injury that makes stairs and slopes difficult. We read the cave and steps got very slippery. We went to blue lagoon 2 for a swim. It was a little difficult for my friend to get in. We found a spot by the bridge where she could climb down holding the bridge. The water isn’t very deep there. Maybe 3 feet but we were happy floating around. I had already managed to get in and swim in the deeper areas. Most of the rocks are quite slippery. I wish I had brought my water shoes. It is so beautiful when you are there looking up at the mountains
