Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a place you definately want to stop! So many beautiful views of Yosemite. There is plenty of parking. Make sure you walk from one end of the parkig lot to the other to see the different views.

Driving Tioga Pass, this was our first sighting of Half Dome. Small parking lot, but didn’t have a problem finding a spot. Magnificent views.

Plenty of parking to view wonderful scenery. You can climb on the rocks and there are steps going down to a path. Walk the entire length of the sidewalk to view different parts of the park.

This was recommended to us by cashier at the Tuolumne Meadows trading post/ visitor center. So we decided to stop at Olmsted Point/ Overlook. Named after the famous Landscape Architect who designed Central Park in NYC. Great views , especially of Half Dome. Volunteer was at the look out and had a telescope so that we could see the hikers going up Half Dome, as if they were ants. Nice stop!

When Glacier Point Road closes for 2022, this is one of the highest vantage points to appreciate Yosemite. Yes, there's always the Valley, but for extra perspective Glacier Point was the obvious road trip. That won't happen when cars and bicycles are stopped from going to Glacier Point for a season long construction project. TIP: Head to this Point! Olmsted Point is 2nd most obvious panoramic gateway to this majestic park. Pack a lunch or snack. Not much around here but nature and nuts.

We could see that the afternoon thunderstorm was approaching, but we knew we had plenty of time to make the short walk down the steps and out to the best view from Olmsted Point. We sat on the rock and used binoculars to check out Cloud's Rest (where we could see hikers) and Half Dome. This was a terrific stop.

This place is gorgeous. The parking lot was busy, but not ridiculously so. It was windy and a little cold (which kept my mom in the car but she really missed out). There lookout from Olmsted Point is outstanding but just about a 5-10 minute trail walk away is another viewpoint on a HUGE granite slope. You see numerous granite mountains and even Half Dome from a different perspective. This place is SO beautiful and definitely a must do while on the Tioga Pass drive.

Our kids really enjoyed getting to play on the flat rock surfaces here at Olmsted Point. There are lots of chipmunks and squirrels that they enjoyed chasing around as well. We unfortunately didn't get to enjoy the views of Tenaya Lake and Half dome due to smoke from the creek fire, but the stop was still one of the highlights of our trip through the park.

We spent the day driving Tioga Road and this spot was amazing! Easy and quick pull off with a scenic shelf for pictures.

Named after the famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (best known for designing Central Park NYC). From here you are north and east of the Yosemite Valley looking at Half Dome from the other side. There are trails along the rock and scrabble. A nice stop.
