My husband and I (in our mid-50s) hike frequently. We have walked in many countries and many states. For a relatively short walk close to civilization, this trail has to be one of the best anywhere -- certainly it offers the most spectacular views per...More

Hiking up past Vernal on the Misty Trail continuing on up to Nevada Falls and then down Muir Trail is just a spectacular day hike - the best! There is 2000 feet of vertical gain going up to Nevada Falls, and the loop will be...More

Depending on how far you want to go this trail could be a simple stroll or a crazy hard hike, We went mid term and hiked to the first bridge where you could see the falls. It was about 500 or so feet of elevation...More

Amazing walk alongside 2 waterfalls and stunning views. It is quite busy and of course uphill but take your time and enjoy. Even saw a bear sitting in a tree!

I hiked up to Vernal Fall and then Nevada Falls using the Mist Trail going up and the John Muir trail coming back. This makes for a 7 mile loop trail. I recommend doing it this way and not the other way around. You can,...More

This is the most hiked trail in the park. You start at Haps Isles Nature Center. You hike up the Vernal falls. There is a bridge before the falls that goes over the river. Then there is the last clear drinking water just past the...More

First wear appropriate footwear as in a hiking shoe or boot. The Park spends far to much time helping people who are not prepared than the should. Views are wonderful. Sit up top and have lunch and enjoy the views.

We passed Vernal Falls on the way. It was August, but both has dramatic flow so the falls were spectacular. We hiked to the base of Nevada and then returned by the Muir Trail. It took this pair of 63-year olds 6 hours to do...More

We went there in heat of August and it was a great exercise. You start to feel the altitude after half way from Vernal Fall. After 180 floors of climbing (so my phone tells me), it is absolutely gorgeous on top! Coming down is another...More

You'll be hoofing it! Take it easy and bring some water. Make sure you have good hiking shoes that fit, especially for downhill.
