Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful place to see the wonders of creation. It is lovely how you can walk among the trees whilst still ensuring little or no damage is being done to your surroundings. Fabulous place for families, friends and couples

It’s so fun that you can walk through a tree. I think every visitor takes a photo here. Of course it’s no longer considered appropriate to cut a hole through a tree, but I still like this tree.

One of the most interesting sequoias to see in the Mariposa Grove is the California Tunnel Tree, located just past the Grizzly Giant and found along the Grizzly Giant and Mariposa Grove trails.

This tunnel was carved through the base of a giant sequoia in 1895 during a time when tunnelling through sequoias was a regular practice in effort to spur tourism. It was created for stagecoaches to pass through. However, today it is only a walk through tunnel, something fun to try while visiting Mariposa Grove.

Do spend a few minutes reading the information panels near the California Tunnel Tree. There you will learn about this particular sequoia with the walk-through tunnel as well as a short bit about sequoia tunnelling history, which has long ceased due to the heavy damage the act causes to these giant trees.

Note, everyone wants a picture next to or within the California Tunnel Tree. As such, unless visiting first thing in the morning or near the end of the day, you can expect others to be in your photos.
