Don’t come here hoping to see it go off; it’s way too rare and unpredictable. Come because it’s off the beaten path, so fewer visitors, and has great landscape for some unique photography options. Worth a stop as you explore the basin.

The top attraction in the Norris Geyser Basin is Steamboat, the world's biggest/tallest active geyser. Steamboat has regular 40' foot eruptions. The full eruptions are very unpredictable and infrequent.

Great attraction in YNP, consider almost 1 hour walking on trail to get to geyser with a lot of information found on signs along the walk

Really awesome geyser. Just a short walk. The whole area around Steamboat is awesome. Actually most of Yellowstone's thermal features are a must.

This walk is great, nice view of this geyser. Not too many people. We enjoyed our time here. Be sure to stop.

This is in the Back Basin of Norris. It's big, but only goes off every few YEARS! Of course we weren't lucky enough to see it go off.

Long Walk, not much to see now but a memory and a distant hope. But, right around the corner sleeps a Green Giant worth looking for, turn right after a bridge, go to the water edge and wait a few minutes until you hear a...More
