We visited here last week when it was so very cold! This was one of our stops while snowmobiling around the park. So much snow and ice! Just breathtaking! I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the summer. May have to plan another trip when the temps are above freezing!

Firehole River is a lovely river tucked away on a trail just off Grand Loop Road. There is a waterfall about 5 minutes into the trail. Before you enter the wooded area, there is a grassy plain perfect for viewing coyotes and bison. The river is a good place to see eagles and river otters as well.

Stopped by it on the way out and it was one of the better photo spots if you take the climbing trails. Lots of people were catching big fish too.

This is one of the few places in yellowstone where you can swim. We drove the firehole river road and stopped off. It was quite busy but it was lovely in the water and you could swim upstream and float back with the current. A nice relaxing stop on a busy trip.

We took our family vacation to Yellowstone this summer - And oh my goodness,,, I could write a short novel at how awesome this trip was. We stayed in the park for 5 days and our boys (7 and 10) were occupied the entire time. We visited all of the major highlights in the park, especially the ones easily accessible... More

This is a wonderful river that flows from Madison, through the geyser basins in Yellowstone. There's many areas to stop & fish, or just watch the river. Very wild & beautiful!

The Great Loop Rd follows the Firehole River from Keppler Cascades all the way down to Madison. The major area around Old Faithful is the most popular, but the river has hot springs, geysers and pools all the way along it's length. There are often bison grazing along the banks. I was able to see 2 young males battling for... More

The Firehole River was an amazing 2 mile one way auto trail that had you driving along the River with spectacle views. One on two swimming areas were within this drive and restroom near swimming. There were a few out swimming and jumping off short cliffs in the water. I didn’t swim, the ride was worth it as it was... More

Okay, Beckler and Cave Falls are Fantastic, but if you are in the park this is the Best without a long hike. There are a couple of parking spaces on the one way loop, and even one or two on the main loop, but they are easy to miss, so enjoy the great drive along the Firehole

We happened upon this while driving and it provided amazing views. We went on it twice so we could show it to another member of the family who didn't get to see it the 1st time.
