This huge lake is on the Park's southern loop, and is located about 2PM on a clock if you were to stand at the Teton's most southern exit for YNP. It is refreshing to walk into the water for a brief few minutes since the...More

This is a really cool lake. It's huge, beautiful, and really really cold. We only drove by it and stopped to take a few pictures. I would love to do some kayaking here because the further reaches of the lake are visited by very few...More

Yellowstone Lake is the largest high-elevation lake in North America. The stretch of Grand Loop Road between West Thumb and Lake follows the lake shoreline and has many pullouts for viewing the beautiful lake. Beware of mosquitoes though.

2400 bison roam free in the park along the Yellowstone river. Just be careful not to get in their way crossing the road.

Yellowstone lake is very big and beautiful. There are many bays and coves to wander about in. It is a high lake with clear water.

This is a spectacular view on a clear day, the blue river flowing, with green trees and blue skies. This is definitely a must do on Yellowstone.

The size is matched by its beauty. A lot of burnt trees in this area, but I guess you could say it give you a better view of the lake. Stop at a village in Yellowstone and walk.

As others have said, it may be difficult to get there, but if you can (and tough it out), I suspect it would be really beautiful. No waterfalls, I imagine.
