We were short on time so we opted for the driving tour. It was great because we could get out and walk/hike to nearby points and get a better sense of the field. The little museum inside is very informative as well. The park rangers were also very friendly and helpful!

Nice information provided along the tour road. My husband and I appreciated being able to do some walking on the tributary walking paths at the tour stops. Parents stayed back as the paths aren't great if not sure footed. Movie at the Visitors Center was very informative and staff was helpful.

Since we had been to the visitor center earlier in the year (which we enjoyed very much), we drove up for the Illumanaries drive. Perhaps the moon was too bright but you could hardly see the illumanaries. We were really disappointed. Not sure what we were expecting, but a boring drive in the dark was not it.

It is exactly what you would expect in a National Battlefield. Nice facilities. An old house, several trails, long driving trail (bike friendly) with stops and good signage.

Spent a lovely Sunday afternoon at Wilson's Creek Battlefield. The Visitors Center is well designed and very educational. You could spend hours there. The ride through the battlefield has several designated areas with historical details, and is very interesting.

We spent about four hours visiting this National Park. We began our visit at the Visitors Center where we watched a movie (about 20 minutes) about the Wilson's Creek battle and viewed the interpretive displays. There is also display that gives an excellent visual depiction of the battles that took place at this site. I definitely recommend doing this before... More

If you enjoy history, don't miss visiting this park. The Park Rangers were very helpful and friendly. If you have time, make sure to watch the 30 minute movie about the battle before you drive the 5 mile loop to explore the battle field. You will have a much better appreciation and understanding of what you are seeing. Also, the... More

Wilson Creek was the site of the first battle in Missouri during the Civil War. The visitor's center had a good movie describing the events leading up to and after the battle. They also had great electronic maps depicting the routes the troops took. They also have a 4.9 mile loop road that takes you to major points on the... More

Great place for history buffs. Good for trail walking or nice paved trek around the place (about 5 miles)

The western battles of the Civil War get little attention. Yet getting and keeping Missouri in Union hands helped keep the Mississippi as an important shipping option, as well as kept the road open to the federal depot in Ft Smith, Arkansas. Wilson's Creek Battle is generally considered to be the battle that achieved this goal. The Union troops were... More
