We stopped by today and I thought it would just be a courthouse with some exhibits. The folks curating this building have done an amazing job showing the period, Civil War history, and the history of the court house, everything. We took a lot of photos (no flash allowed), and spent a lot more time here than we thought we... More

This "Old Court House has been converted to a Vicksburg Historical museum and includes an amazing number of memorabilia for the early 1800s and early 1900s. Well worth the time and low price of admission. Plan on spending and hour or more here.

The Old Courthouse Museum was one of my favorite spots in the city. The museum has a room dedicated to the Confederacy which I enjoyed going through, it gives background of the Confederate nation with information as to why the South chose to secede. The historic courthouse upstairs was very interesting as well. Thank goodness PC culture hasn't touched this... More

Lots to see in this place. The building itself is treasure. I recall a comment about the costumes being shabby... but good grief... they're over a hundred years old!! Lots of history to be seen. My only complaint... the bathrooms are horrid!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Courthouse. Being an attorney I loved the visit. Exciting to sit in a courtroom where Jefferson Davis had been. This courthouse had been shelled during the siege of Vicksburg. Great artifacts were on exhibit.

We thought we had stepped into an alternative history during our visit. The whole place is a monument to the south's version of the Civil War. They have some interesting displays but the staff and the displays seem to have a different view of why the war was fought and from talking to the staff, I'm pretty sure they think... More

This museum has A LOT of interesting items not only for the civil war, but for history of the surrounding area! Clothes, shoes, toys, household items, you name it?? - they probably have it! The cost is $5.00 for adults.. You could easily spend an hour or so in here by looking at everything! The gift wasn't all that impressive... More

Walking up the steps to the old courthouse, knowing that Jefferson Davis walked on the same steps is chilling. Our history is relatively short compared to other countries, and investigating the past is a genuine pleasure.

Collections of various civil war period items from guns, uniforms, to Hummel statues. Slightly slanted take on the history of the civil war. Wouldn't have missed anything if we didn't go inside. The outside of the building is impressive.

If you want to learn a bit more about Vicksburg, the Old Courthouse is the place to go! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the entrance fee for adults is very affordable at $5.00. There are nine rooms for you to check out and find out more about the city. You'll learn all about the Battle of Vicksburg and... More
