If you like history and or the Civil War, this is worth your time. The visitor center has great displays and has great selection of civil war related books. The driving tour will take some time as the park is huge. The brochures and staff do a great job of explaining the siege. When driving you will be stunned at... More

I love to go through the military park and read the plaques. The views are great and you can just imagine the battles from the past.

We have visited most of the major Civil War Battlefields and this ranks up there with Gettysburg. Allow 2-3 hours and get the full effect. I suggest you combine this with a tour of downtown Vicksburg and the waterfront. Views of the old & new river bridges are awesome and there is a view point available via auto. I recommend... More

I went as a kid, and I'm 58 now. I appreciated it in different ways but lived both trips. We were after geocaches on this trip and spent almost 2 hours in the park grabbing the answers for one and enjoying the history. Endless statues that are both historic and great piece of art. Take the kids or go alone.

Definitely need to make plans to go.. Very humbling.. It can take you hours to go through this military sight. If you love American history - this is a perfect place for you!! Lots of memorial markers which show which side was positioned.. Some of the memorial markers are very elaborate.

This Civil War battlefield was huge, and well documented. Definitely go to the museum first and watch the movie, so that you appreciate all that you will see as you drive through it. (And driving is definitely the way to go.)

For those of you who like military history this is the palce for you. The park is very well maintained with many monuments honoring the different states that participated in the battle of Vicksburg. You can walk ride your bike or drive. Nice way to learn history!

Very interesting to see the history laid out for all to view. Can only imagine how tough those battles were. Being from a country that didn't have civil war it's difficult to imagine the effect this had on the country. Great tour, great scenery and history well explained.

This is an amazing piece of history that Mississippi has. As always, the National Park Service has done a great job of preserving and presenting such a treasure. We went to the Visitor Center first which has a gift shop, small exhibit room, and a very well air conditioned theater. We enjoyed the 20 minute or so video that gave... More
