I was particularly interested in the notes on the differences small improvements in armaments made: iron clad ships, rifled barrels being two of the big ones. And you get good views from this park to understand where the action was.

The Battle or the Campaign of Vicksburg has been studied for hundreds of years in order to gain insight into military grand strategy. I highly recommend visiting and spending a lot of time here.

Been here many times and always struck by the number of American lives lost in this battle. Don't miss the USS Cairo Museum.
