Overview
More
Further along Kalanianaole Highway is the Makapuu Lighthouse hiking trail. This easy route with its moderate incline to the 647-ft. summit is a popular spot during whale season between December and April. This is a definite photo opportunity even when humpbacks aren’t spouting offshore. If you’re really ambitious, tackle a pre-sunrise hike to the top so you can grab a glorious photo of the sunrise.

If you can hike up a steep hill for 30-45 minutes, then this is for you. Wear sneakers, the path is now made of bitumen and is wide enough for cars. Great views of everything! Interesting history if you look for it and one of...More

This is a wide paved trail to the concealed lighthouse. You can walk to the lookout above the lighthouse, but the side trail that takes you right up to the lighthouse is closed.

It's up hill all the way but wonderful! Views the entire way are well worth the walk (about 2 hrs return). Deep blue water, white surf crashing against the cliffs. We saw 5 mongoose along the way. You can't actually visit the light house, but...More

The main trail is paved but there are areas where the inclination can be a bit of a workout. We walked at an average pace, stopping often to take photos along the way and it took us about 40 minutes to reach the top. Definitely...More
