Have to plan ahead by reserving space on bus at Honolulu Museum of Art. I went with my mom who was handicapped so I was allowed to drive separately and got a private tour. Very personal.

Even though this tour is not well advertised (probably for the best, since tour groups are, by necessity, small), it is well worth finding. Tour groups depart from the Art Museum across town a few times per day. Our tour guide was very informative and...More

So hard to believe that people had homes of this opulence. The spot, overlooking Black Point and Diamond Head. is gorgeous in an of itself. The home is breathtaking. The art is beautiful, just not my cup of tea.

We took the 9 am tour with our two teenage daughters. This is an incredibly special place. Our 16 year old, on her 3rd trip to Hawaii, said it was the best thing she's done on 3 islands! The house is stunning. Our docent Valerie...More

We booked a 10:30 a.m. tour online. We started at the Honolulu Art Museum, after which a van took us to the site. Normally you're not allowed to take pictures, but for some reason our particular group was made part of an "experiment" where we...More

This has to be the best tourist attraction in Hawaii. So much history. Beautiful architecture. Amazing art. Great museum but the mosaics around the walls are a must. Then the view to the ocean really captures the beauty of Shangrila

I wasn't sure what to expect, so was pleasantly surprised. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, Our tour guide was very informative and I would highly recommend this to anyone. The meeting point (Museum of Art) can be tricky to get to by public transport,...More

Wish I had taken this tour years ago. Plan on spending at least 4 hours...getting to museum, tour, getting back to museum and then your hotel. But well worth 1/2 a day. Fabulous art, beautiful scenery and interesting background stories. A MUST see.

Although locals do swim in front of there, access is not from the Shangrila property and ticket holders are brought to the location by bus and given a tour of the house and garden.

I won't knock the previous comments but if you're only in Oahu for a few days, you MUST book the Shangri La tour in advance and the tours are not available every day, or even every month (as I found out when I visited in... More
