Ewa Beach, Hawaii23 contributions
One of the most tourist visited spots for snorkelling & relaxing on the island. Since its a natural reserve it will staffed and well maintained. Due to Covid restrictions only 720 people are allowed per day. Key is to get there early in the morning. There is no parking allowed on highway, gates open at 0645 so plan your trip accordingly. Water is clear and you can see school of tropical fish and if you are lucky you may see SEAL's or Green Turtle sunbathing on the beach also. Bring your waterproof camera/GoPro to capture the moments.

The preserve is beautifully kept and well maintained. There is a curtesy tram that takes you down to the bay and showers/restrooms all around for your convenience. The coral is steps from the beach so that you can dive right in to admire the gorgeous sea life. We saw parrot fish, angel fish, tang and my brother in law even saw a sea turtle! This bay was paradise and a must do for any ocean lover!!

We arrived at 7AM they just changed there hours to open at 6:45 and don’t allow lines or parking on the road anymore, show time was for 7:40, they are very diligent about masks until you get to the beach. Once there it’s an amazing place staff was pleasant and helpful, water is clear due to limited entries, saw several very large schools of feeding fish, one circled me as I filmed, one of my better experiences. To top it off a green sea turtle popped up and swam right up to me. They tend to swim around the wave break further out, a challenge to get to but worth the effort.

I love the fact that this nature preserve is limited to only 720 people per day due to covid restrictions. This ensures that the bay is not overused by humans. The staff are friendly and helpful. Restrooms, showers, and vending machines for beverages are available. Shuttles from the top of the hill down to the beach and back are available. Parking for nonresidents is $3, and admission for each adult is $12. For anyone who truly appreciates conservation and respect for nature, I highly recommend this place. It's not just any other beach. Mahalo to all those who help conserve / preserve this area and allow us to participate in a truly beautiful snorkeling experience there!

Just wanted to stop and take a picture but the gate was closed. Last time we were here many people pulled in to an upper parking lot for the view and pictures. They have allowed COVID to hurt their business. So many people visiting while we were here this month. I am sure many people were disappointed in their hours. Oh, well they did it to themselves. Employees every where told us they were disappointed in their government. Hanauma Bay has become more about money.
