I now have contracted typhus after hiking at the trail and falls. Please be careful! There’s also leptospirosis in the waters so don’t go in with open wounds.

You will get muddy but it will wash off and you won't need to throw away your shoes. We are experienced hikers and found this hike challenging. My husband and I both fell a few times. The river crossings were welcomed to wash off the...More

This trail is muddy and plenty of vegetation in the forest. Be prepared to climb, stairs, go under tree and watch out for slippery rock. I had my toddler in carrying backpack and was able to walk trail without a problem. Have to bring water...More

An in and out hike of 3 miles total. Went right after a light rain and it was slippery and muddy. I am an avid hiker and was wearing Merrill low ankle hiking boots. I saw many hiking in converse tennis shoes and even flip...More

Randomly during our Honeymoon my wife leans over to me asking to go for a hike. I said, "sure... what's the nearest waterfall? Lets go!" without doing any research we set off in flip-flops and no water. This was a bad idea. Half way to...More

We had read on a different website that people spent approximatey 45 minutes total on the trail ans falls but in reality, it would be 45 minutes one-way. We are avid hikers and visited the trail with our two year old son who loves walking....More

If you appreciate the beauty of plants and birds, this is hike for you. Knotted ferns furled in tight balls, wild bromeliads, guava, orchids and wild pigs are a few of the treats you'll find on the trail. The Maunawili Trail is 10 miles one-way....More

Not enough signage or information for this trail. It was beyond dangerous in parts and extremely muddy and slippery. Not a trail to do and get an injury along the way as you would be literally screwed. A very long difficult walk and the end...More

We have travel extensively and have done many waterfall hikes, with several on Oahu. We did Maunawili and likely would not do it again. We are not afraid of a difficult hike and getting a little dirty, but this one was insane! It had rain...More

We went here with our Oahu Private Tours guide Lukela, who took us up on an alternate, off-trail route to the falls which had us walking for about 20-30mins before we reached our destination. Yes, it was muddy and yes, it wasn't the easiest thing...More
