What a surprise !

My husband and I love museums. You sometimes forget that you have these treasures in your own community . Great artists, masters. peaceful, good flow around the buildings.

A wide range of artwork including very nice Impressionist and post-Impressionist art. Check the schedule for free admission days as well as events.

Art After Dark is an event that happens once a month, on a Friday, from 6pm to 9pm. The vast majority of the museum is accessible, although you can't bring food and drink into the exhibition halls. So yes, they serve food (which is based on the theme for the evening) and drinks (to include wine, beer, and cocktails!). Its... More

I booked a Shangri-La tour through the museum which included the price of admission to the museum. I am so glad I showed up an hour early for my tour because I had a chance to explore this wonderful gem of a museum. From the outside it doesn't look that special but once inside I was blown away. This was... More

I head for art and history museums wherever I go. This one had such a lovely setting with the flowers and tropical trees and plants accentuating the art. I took loads of pictures. There was modern and historical art from centuries past, both asian and western. This museum is also where you get tickets for Shangri La, Doris Duke's house... More

This Museum was very interesting and while we were there, they had a part of one section that came from India and we got a chance to see it. You can also purchase your full tickets with a 15 minute shuttle ride to Doris Dukes house which is called the Shangri-La. A must see.

Not a huge museum but with interesting collections. Can easily be done in 2 hours max. Little bit of everything, just enough to whet your appetite. Sadly we were unable to book for the tour of Shangri La( home of late Doris Duke) at the museum. Friendly staff, even phoned for a taxi for us.

Free for kids under 17, this was a perfect respite from the midday sun and a nice change of pace from all the beach activities. The collection is small but thoughtful and the temporary exhibit on Harajuku Tokyo Street fashion was a big hit with our teenage girls.
