Many of Hawaii’s alii (royalty) lived in Waikiki and King Kalakaua selected a 300-acre track of land at the base of Diamond Head for a public park in 1867. Today, it is a gathering place that thrives with walkers, runners, tennis enthusiasts and picnickers. Grab lunch on Kalakaua Avenue and enjoy it in one of the shaded picnic areas scattered around this colorful park.

This is nice little park at the eastern end of Kalakaua Avenue. It has a nice beach at the northwestern end, picnic tables and lots of trees for shade!

All I can say is the trees, the trees are massive, the Banyan and Fiscus trees are massive, I have never seen Banyan trees do big. Infact all over the area they are this big

The park in the morning is very quiet and nice. Several groups out there enjoying morning yoga, a jog or just a walk. Enjoy the cool Banyan Trees. Watch out for the sprinklers being turned on!

High-quality Hawaiian Craft fairs are held here often (and also Korean and Okinawa craft fairs). And Ukulele Festivals too. Wander over to see what's on offer, because only the best Fairs are showcased in Kapiolani Park

The park is a nice quiet area really close to Waikiki. We enjoyed walking through. We also spent a day at the zoo.

This is a lovely park with lots of grass and trees. I would not go at night alone for sure but during the day is fine. Not much to do there unless you are having a picnic or ball game.

There're other place to bewalking around in the evening in waikiki. This park is quite dark, and not as safe as Waikiki beach. During the day is fine, one of locals favorite for picnic and such.

One of the best parks in Honolulu, this one is right on the edge - Diamond Head side - of Waikiki. Lots of space, great for picnics, right next to the Honolulu zoo.

We enjoyed strolling around this very large nice park located near Waikiki beach and Diamond head. The Kapiolani Park seems to have something for everyone: sun, shade, picnic tables, bike paths, space for team sports like soccer, tennis courts, and rest rooms. There were lots...More

Right next to Waikiki beach and the zoo. The grounds are immaculate and a great memorial to long lost ancestors.

There are a lot of places you can ask about schedules of events. But the front desk of your hotel should have some of that information and they usually had booklets about the many different tours, etc.

You will find a few fish around here but nothing terribly exciting. If it's snorkeling you're after - sign up with a private tour (we used OPT) where local guides take you to the best snorkeling places around the island... More
