I found this beach when i decided to walk back to Waikiki from my Diamond Head Crater hike. I looked at it from up top and saw a paved pathway off of viewpoint where cars park. Followed it down and wow a empty, beautiful, waves crashing beach. Walked to left and sat and watched surfers. Went to water and enjoyed having the waves splash me. Not a swimming type beach you can feel the undertow when standing knee deep. It was such a nice break from Waikiki beaches! When I departed for my walk back I kept to beach and followed it till going back up to road from a smaller beach park. I loved this beach so much I walked back there from Waikiki on my last day.

Its a beautiful walk there from the crowded Waikiki beach area. We got there at midday and there were few people on the beach. Its a place to sit and reflect. It is not a swimming beach as the waves are strong.

Without question this is a hidden gem. There is a walking path to beach access with very few people around 6:30am - 7:00am.
The beach area was quiet and the morning sun and waves offered great pictures. Worth stopping by if in the area.

Kuilei Cliffs Beach Park can be found near Diamond Head Lighthouse on Diamond Head Road. It is sometimes referred to as Diamond Head Beach Park. As you walk down the paved pathway, take note of the sea cliffs and narrow beach. While the beach is not a good place to swim because it is rocky, it is an ideal place for surfers to enjoy the waves in a less crowded space. There was a steady stream of men and women heading down with their surfboards. It was fun watching them surf. You can also enjoy a view of the lighthouse as you descend the pathway. It will be on the right side. Depending on the number of surfers, that is usually plenty of parking in the pullouts.

This is a surfer beach under Diamond Head. I walked from the hotel zone in Waikiki in about 45 minutes, but it's a world away. Since I walked, I didn't have to park, but I sensed that it would be a challenge. The beach itself is narrow and a bit of a walk from the street. If you are looking for an isolated stretch of beach, this is it.

Just finished this hike, about 7,500 steps and 700 ft elevation.
Not for older folks with breathing/heart issues. Not for babies/strollers
Most of the hike is gradual sidewalks but there are definitely long periods of steep steps, steep rough slippery rocky terrain. Many places to stop and rest along the way.
There is a bathroom/refreshment area about 2/3 into the park. It’s the only bathroom. Pretty clean given it’s a park.
$5/person admission (when walking). You can take backpacks without issue. Can drive until the bathroom with fee for parking.
Metal railings are present along the entire hike parts to help you out. Again, would not recommend if you have heart/pulmonary/respiratory/asthma. An elderly lady had to be life flighted out near the top. Unknown reason.
There’s also a tunnel, open at both ends, so beware to claustrophobics.
Wear shoes and socks, not sandals. Bring binoculars, hats, sunglasses, hiking sticks, and your camera. Might sprinkle a little. Amazing, once in a lifetime views at the top. Not very windy so can get hot. Highly highly recommend. Many kids (3+) completed climb with rest along the way. Took us anoint 2-3 hours end to end.
We did this on Saturday am, first went to KCC farmers market (not bad, majority local produce, some hot treats and food. Can’t eat on grounds. Not huge by any means, nice people. They take Apple Pay/cards).
Must see!!

A beautiful place and the hike was wonderful. Saw many beaufiful sites even though it was hot. Parking is a little difficult but there are people who direct you to a spot as it becomes available not to long a wait. We travel in the off season so it not that bad.

Family of 5 age 15-63. Trail is easy until stairs which get moderately difficult. Allow 45 minutes for climb and 30 minutes for descent. Unbelievable views. Take water and I recommend going early in the day. Allow at least 20 minutes for pictures and to enjoy views at the top.
