I went early-ish around 8am, thinking I'd beat the crowds, but obviously lots of other people had the same idea. Even at that time, it was quite hot, so I wouldn't recommend going at midday. There are a LOT of stairs, and lots of climbing,...More

This a great place to visit. Need to be prepared for a hike. Wear appreciate footwear & take a bottle of water too. There is no shade on the hike so plenty of sun cream. There are nice picnic areas and tables to relax.

This was a really great hike, if you are an active person it's not too difficult. The view from the top of the crater is stunning and definitely worth the sweat! There are a lot of visitors though, it's very busy during the day and...More

I had been warned that it was quite a trek but well worth it. We left early and was climbing Diamond Head at 7.30am - already many others were on their way down, having tackled the trek super early to avoid the heat (though it...More

When on Oahu, you should stop to hike up Diamond Head. It is approximately 1 mile to the top, but there are plenty of resting stops where you can take gorgeous photos.

The Diamond Head Crater has beautiful surroundings and the trail to the top is a must do, if you not afraid of heights and small rooms. The view from the top is gorgeous. Try the refreshments - pineapple or coconuts. If you are on foot...More

I personally was not able to walk to the top the day my husband and son walked up. I ended up sick, but they told me the view was wonderful at the top. There are signs posted not to go beyond a certain point, yet...More

The views from the top are well worth the walk and sometimes struggle to get to the top. As a 57 year old with knee problems I managed to get to the top with ease and the views are incredible. Strongly recommend going first thing...More

We live a few blocks from the park and go there on the regular basis to hike to the top. The trail is fairly steep in places and there are some stairs but do able for most people. It is almost always busy. There is...More

Hi Kristy It's exactly 3kms from the Moana Surfrider hotel to the entrance of Diamond Head. It takes only about 15-20mins of brisk walking. It's a nice walk. Otherwise, there is one of those Connection Trolley buses you can... More

Check the local weather, then back up your arrival time by at least an hour due to traffic.

Hi, It is US$1 per person or $5 per car to enter the park. Our taxi driver stopped just before the entrance so we could pay per person. Enjoy! dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/parks/oahu/diamond-head-state-monument/
