Chief's Luau Admission

369 reviews
No trip to Oahu is complete without attending a luau, complete with hula dancers and a fire show. With your experience at the Chief's Luau, you get all that and more, starting with a lei greeting and welcome drink, before settling into a traditional Hawaiian feast. From Polynesian culture to fantastic food, optional hotel transfer and hula dance lessons to practice making fire, this luau is a showstopper.

Diamond Head is a must see for anyone on a trip to Oahu simply for the views at the top. But it’s important to note that is it definitely one of the busiest hikes since it’s one of the top tourist attractions but it is still a bit of a hike! There are several staircases to climb and I’m not sure everyone who goes does the research to see that. Best to go earlier in the morning when the trail is mostly in the shade and be sure to bring water! During Covid, they require visitors wears masks when on the trail so be sure to bring an extra for when you get back down so you don’t have to wear a sweaty mask all day.

The hike wasn't too bad, recommend caution if you have bad knees due to the amount of stairs. I would also recommend doing it earlier in the day, before it gets too hot and where good walking/hiking shoes. The view is definitely worth it though. Allow yourself time for the hike, as well as allowing time to soak in the view. This was our last destination on our last day, and I wish I would have given myself more time here. Average suggested time 2.5 to 3.5 hours. I did it in 1.5 hours.

We lucked out with the reopening the week prior due to COVID. The sunrise was amazing. Bring $10 cash for parking. The bathrooms are clean at the parking lot. The are plenty of view points to stop, rest and take photos. Bring a flashlight to see the path if you go for the sunrise hike. The path is very uneven. The food truck in the parking lot has reasonable prices. Try the pineapple slices. The staff was very nice.

Double check with the state park's website to see if the hike/park is open. Since there are several parts of the hike that would put you in close contact with other people (long, dark tunnel and the lookout), I can understand the closure.

Wonderful view of the city and the ocean. Beautiful sunrise. We went early in the morning at 6 am( park opens at six). It’s still dark so maybe bring a flashlight or a phone with a light. The hike up is a bit strenuous if you are not in shape, but definitely doable. Takes about 30 mins to get to the top. Bring water. There are a couple of places to watch the sunset, a helipad platform right below the summit or the very top of the summit. Either is good for sunrise. But the very top is a full 360 view of the city which is better. Do check to see if it will be cloudy which can ruin the sunrise.
