Verde Canyon Railroad is a Southwestern adventure that takes passengers on...

Verde Canyon Railroad is a Southwestern adventure that takes passengers on a ride through Arizona’s backcountry, only accessible from the comfort of this train.

This legendary “boutique” attraction allows members of groups an uncommon view of a wildly-wonderful red-rock canyon. The four-hour excursion requires no laborious effort or exertion except by the highly-trained staff who absolutely love what they do. As evidenced by exceedingly positive reviews, they do it very well.

Verde Canyon Railroad is the only excursion train in the Southwest which offers every guest two seats for the price of one: inside viewing through large panoramic windows in all coaches and 360-degree views from open-air viewing cars attached to each coach. As the train passes “through” a grand canyon, both vantages celebrate incomparable scenery, high-desert flora and fauna, historic trestles, dramatic geology, unusual rock formations and passage through a century-old 680-foot tunnel. Throughout the journey the captivating history of the Verde Canyon and the Railroad unfolds with narration interlaced with a wide genre of popular railroad tunes.

Terrific experience. Booked reservations and chose seats online, easy check-in, ample parking. We chose the first class car with comfy seating, snacks included in the price, and bar service. Excellent guide provided interesting historical information along the route. Reserved seats in the car, everyone has access to several open cars on the train for taking pictures and being up close... This was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and see some of the beautiful countryside in the Sedona area! We spent four hours enjoying the view of everything from red rocks to native american hideaways to the beautiful Verde river. We opted for the first class section of the train. The first class cars have very comfortable seating with... More

Nice long ride through some beautiful country. Seats were comfortable, you could ride in an open car to take pictures if you wanted to. Children were having a great time running down the aisle and eating the snacks that were available for purchase. Same scenery on the return trip but it was still very enjoyable.

A terrific way to spend over 4 hours (roundtrip) just taking in the beautiful scenery. First class vintage train car seats were comfy. Free finger food, snacks and bottled waters were also available to us and some people paid for cocktails. Our Host was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable and knew the exact times to make us go out to... More

Beautifully restored train. Ride about 4 hours from Clarksdale station to the ghost town Perkinsville station and back. Beautiful scenery the whole way. Go first class...comfortable seating. big picture windows, a beautiful spread of finger foods and a cash bar. Service to your seat. You can go outside any time to the open air viewing car. Experiencing Verde Canyon by railroad was a pleasant, scenic way to enjoy the canyon. The employees of the railroad were polite and interesting, the seats comfortable and reversible, the narration interesting and helpful Each enclosed car was accompanied by access to an open-air car especially helpful for photography. Every enclosed car offered for sale liquid refreshments as well as limited... More

A 4-hour trip....2 hours there and back...filled with beautiful scenery of Arizona. We opted for the first class cabin which included a champagne (or cider) toast upon boarding as well as snacks. First class cabin was roomy and comfortable. Our party of 4 had two couches and a large table. Cabin also has a nice bar. Be sure to go... More

This is literally for EVERYONE! My girlfriend and I are circa thirty and loved this more than any of the other adventures (including Grand Canyon) we went on. It's a very historic and beautiful trip through the AZ mountains along the Verde River. The guides know everything down to why there's a wrecked 1959 Chevy Bel-Air on one hillside. Sip... More

The views from the train were spectacular. The automated narration was a little off on the timing of the sites, but the guide tried to make up for it with her narration. The ride is slow and peaceful. The "railroad" sound track is a little dated and somewhat repetitive, but you cannot beat the views.

This is a lot of fun to do and it isn't always available, so check the calendar and make your reservations. We were the last to arrive for the sunset run for our First Class seats. We made First Class reservations to be able eat have better seating since I have problems with my back. I do not know if... More
