Doris Duke's home, Rough Point, is an interesting place to visit. We were impressed with the wonderful art everywhere, especially the Ming Dynasty pieces and the Renoir. Our tour guide did an excellent job, and was very accommodating, answers many questions from the group. (we...More

I have always enjoyed touring the Mansions of Newport and yet missed the 'live' commentary of a guide. This is not the case with Rough Point which made it special. The best part of the whole tour though was being able to enjoy the best...More

This mansion was a little different from the others we had seen. Situated on a double lot with a fantastic view was just breathtaking. To think that this tobacco heiress was so wealthy during a time with the rest of the nation was struggling was...More

This was very refreshing from the Guilded Age mansions of Newport. I could actually visualize someone living here. Beautiful art works and what a fantastic view.

You’d think I had enough mansions to tour through the Newport Preservation Society without tacking on another, very pricey, option. But this was the home of a virtual contemporary, Doris Duke, who I’d read about much of my life. So “damn the expense! Give the...More
