This is a most beautiful building inside, with a history that too few are familiar with. The visitor center is a top-notch educational facility, and the guided tour--though it covers most of the same ground--is excellent.

One of Rhode Island's only Nat'l Park/historic sites. Our tour guide was fantastic ... even the kids were attentive! The rich history is fascinating and the guide is the only way to go.

Our docent, Linda, was very informative about the synagogue and its history. The museum at the Loeb center is very informative. Walk up the street & check out the cemetery.

The Touro Synagogue is excellent as a tourist sight, but also beautiful in what it represents. Very few synagogues in the United States have the length of history that this one does.

Tour starts at a fabulous visitor center that provides an engaging history of religious tolerance in the colonies, especially the special prominence that Newport, George Washington and this synagogue played in solidifying religious freedom. In the synagogue building itself, the guide provides even more history...More
