The Grand Falls always seem to be in motion whenever we are there, March must be the right time of year. Off reading is required, and there is quite a grand reveal! With students we did have to be careful as there is nothing there...More

This was a long bumpy drive through desert area but it was welll worth it. along the way you could view volcanic lava from the volcano eruption. This area would be best visited earlier in year when there would be higher water levels in the...More

Yes, the falls are dry right now. They are still pretty amazing to see & understand how they formed. The views from the south side of the Little Colorado river are worth the hassle of the dirt road to get in. We were there at...More

Should have known from other reviews that the chance of seeing actual water at the falls was slim to none. Bone dry in the Spring, so hard to believe it would be flowing at other times.

We were hopeful the falls would be flowing in April, but unfortunately they were dry. It’s quite a spectacular canyon and you can tell it would be a sight to see when flowing. We walked down to the bottom for a varied view.

We had fun visiting Grand Falls but didn't get to view any running water flowing down the Falls. Will return in two weeks with hopes of experiencing this Arizona treasure. Road heading to Falls (6910 until it connects to 70) was a little rough. Take...More

We read that March/April are when the water is running, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case for us. We got there by taking I-40 15 miles east of Flagstaff, take exit 211 at Winona. Drive 2.3 miles north to Leupp Rd. Turn right and drive...More

We drove there expecting to see the water falls, but it was dry. We turned left onto the dirt/gravel road from Leupp Rd that has a sign for the Grand Falls Bible Church so that was helpful. We saved about 30-45 minutes by taking that...More

If you want to see them up close and personal be prepared for a steep hike up and DOWN to the base of the falls. This is not a lovely walkway down and back up like you would find at a National Park. It's a...More

No permit necessary, as far as I know. We just drove in from the South (I-40) with no problem. You may need a permit for access from some other direction (crossing the reservation)...I'm not sure.

Since this is not a typical park with a gated access point, there is no formal website or number to call. It's just a place to go. I goggled the question "Is there water in Great Falls Arizona" and the "wave info" website... More
