As you enter the cathedral, take a moment to look at the bronze doors. The history of Santa Fe is well represented by the numerous well done panels. When we went in, my eyes were drawn to the beautiful stained glass which were modeled after The famous windows of St Chapelle in Paris. The beautiful geometric designs which surround the... More

The architecture is lovely. Cultural mix. Be sure to stop by the adjacent garden of the Stations of the Cross; a hidden gem, peaceful garden and stunning statues.

This is a magnificent Catholic Cathedral and well worth a visit. Photos are not allowed, however. But the grandeur and serenity is awesome. A choir was practicing while we were there on a Sat morning. Just to sit and listen for a while made our morning perfect.

A place of quiet respite, beautiful architect, history and lore. If you have a chance, attend services there on a Sunday morning. You don't have to be religious or a member of the Denomination; it is a spiritual experience.

The basilica has stained glass in which the colors are so vibrant that it stuns the eye. But these colors will never be duplicated as they are based in colorants that contain arsenic. While it is perfectly safe to be in the cathedral and view the windows, it is dangerous for glass workers to work with the material. Don't miss... More

Beautiful Spanish style church. Located in center of plaza area. If you have a chance read Willa Cather's "Death Comes for the Arch Bishop" which is about the Priest that 'built' the Cathedral. Very beautiful Baptismal Font -- be sure to look at the beautiful grill on the bottom of the pool in front of the Font.

I was not very familiar with St Francis before I went, but went with a former nun and learned a great deal. I could feel it was a holy place. It is an ancient, several floored, stone structure with St Francis buried in the bottom floor. It Is very imposing place from a distance. The only thing that bothered me, as a... More

This is just down the block from the Plaza and the La Fonda Hotel an American Institution and an original Harvey Hotel. It helps ground the old part is Santa Fe across the street from the Cathedral is the American Indian Arts Institute museum. The Cathedral itself is a beautiful example of Architectural Design and Structure. When you enter, no... More
