Alamo Plaza is beautiful but crowded by day. I suggest coming back after closing for some great night photos. There is a visitor center (actually 2 I think) right across from this. And of course, the Alamo is free and open later in the summer.

The Alamo is a must see. Rent the headphones and Walk the tour. It is a complete history an displays of conditions and artifacts. Looks small from the street but is deceiving. Huge.

An amazingly pretty sight at night with the way it is lit up. Also, there are a lot of places to visit nearby and the River Walk is just minutes away. Definitely need to include this on your trip to SA!

The Alamo and the grounds around it are great to see but the actual "plaza" in front of it is nothing special. The area is pretty big and has a garden. Most people where just standing in the plaza area taking pictures of themselves in...More

There have been songs, movies, but the real thing is the real deal, full of historical facts and haunting presences of the people who died there for their beliefs. A sanctified place of history.

The plaza in front of the Alamo is relatively small with a few big trees and a large statue to the defenders of the Alamo. If you visit the Alamo you will also see the plaza because it is right in front of it.

We skipped the line wrapped around the Alamo and opted to visit the adjoining courtyard, gardens and museum. I suspect most people totally missed that there was a movie in one of the corners of the museum. It is not marked and you have to...More

There were many groups--students getting history lessons, tour bus groups walking the grounds, etc.--around the plaza preparing to enter the Alamo chapel. There were vendors with water, food, and other amenities. Even if the line to enter the chapel is crowded, there are other things...More
