An Enjoyable course that is in pretty good shape

Made reservations over the internet after reading good reviews of the course. Very disappointing. The greens were in bad shape and the fairways were not much better. We were told their greens keeper walked off the job not too long ago.

Played golf at this with my wife and and another couple while vacationing in San Antonio. Friendly staff and a really nice course. All the greens are protected by sand traps. Wide fairways but challenging.

I was surprised to read the accounts complaining about course conditions at the Republic. Yes, the traps were in bad shape the day we played but the area had just received three inches of rain and there was still standing water in the bunkers. They probably could work on the traps but the greens were in good shape (putted quite... More

Have played this course in the past and have enjoyed it. However, their "sand" traps have deteriorated so badly that the course is virtually unplayable. Instead of sand they are a mixture of mud and dirt clods. Baked in the South Texas sun, they can be harder than concrete. Will not play it again until they are repaired.

I would rate this course much better if the greens were better, especially after paying $69 green fee. They were in poor condition this past weekend (March 22). I really loved the course layout. It's pretty wide open and you can bomb your drives without fear of loosing balls in the rough. The overall facilities are great and staff was... More

We played early AM, it was hot and humid so we wanted to play fast and cool off. The greens are in great shape, some areas of fairways and tee boxes are burned out from the extreme heat and drought. I like the layout, it's generally fair and well thought out. The back nine is specially unique. My BW shot... More

Greens are usually in good shape. Wide, friendly fairways make this course a pick for the high handicapper.

One of the best maintained courses I have been on. Was there for a tournament and it was very well run. Everyone knew how to answer a question or direct you to someone that could help. It was a charity golf tournament I was involved in and again...very, very well run course. Also quite beautiful rolling hill area down to... More

Played June 15th, the reasonable rate included lunch. The course was in excellent condition. The pace of play was great, we finished the round in 3 hours. I would recommend this course to anyone who plays golf. The next time I'm in San Antonio, this is one course I'll play. The lunch was also very good.

On the southside but worth the trip. The golf course is very open. Fairways were phenomenal. The greens were a little sandy but thats normal this time of year. I would play here anytime and highly recommend the course to anyone and all handicappers. Rates are great.
