Many folks don't seem to know about the wonderful missions in San Antonio. They are beautiful and different from each other. The guided tours are good and the film provided by the park service. I am looking forward to the improvements that are planned for the surrounding areas--gift shop is nice.

On a recent girls weekend, we spend a day visiting all the missions in the National Historic Park tour. We did a self-drive (which was easy), although we did see tour buses with guides at a few of the missions. We enjoyed taking our own pace while photographing each of the sites. We started at Mission Espada and worked our... More

This is a very interesting tour. You can see the missions as quickly or as slowly as you wish. I am glad we took the time to see them all.

This park is right in the city, and split up by the distance between the missions. As always, the National Park Service does an excellent job of bringing things to life. It's nice to see that some (maybe all--I'm not sure) of the missions are still active Roman Catholic parishes. We attended mass at Mission Concepcion and were welcomed warmly.... More

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is a don't miss when in San Antonio. The four missions range from 3 miles to 11 miles south of downtown, and can be accessed by a hiking and biking trail. However, if you want to save your feet, the VIA transit bus #40 is a dedicated bus just for the missions beginning at... More

We toured all of the missions except Espada as there was road construction and there was no access. All of them are presently operating churches and should be treated with reverence. The San Jose Mission was holding a funeral at the time of our visit and most everyone was respectful, but of course the sanctuary is not open during those... More

I didn't want the crowds of the Alamo as I have been before. So I went to Concepcion and San José - at the later I caught a guided tour. Excellent, entertaining presentation by the park ranger. Really would have missed all the history if I just walked thru without it. I will be coming back to San Antonio for... More

We recently visited 4 of the 5 missions on the trail deciding not to see the Alamo which we have seen several times before. Besides being rather spiritual these missions are now a World Heritage Site. We learned much about why these were built and who built them. It took us about 6 hours to wander around to the 4... We had our wedding here and became part of the history of the mission. Its open to the public so while our wedding was taking place tourists were taking our pictures my wife loved it.
