We read about this on Trip Advisor and drove to the area and were a bit disappointed to see it was just an area with nice houses.

Located along side of the San Antonio River, about one mile south of the downtown (the Riverwalk, the Alamo, the Convention Center and the Shops at the Rivercenter) the KING WILLIAMS HISTORIC DISTRICT, established in the late 1790s, is recognized as one of the most beautifully restored historic districts in the United States (Greek revival, Victorian and Italianate architecture). We went and just walked around looking at all of the wonderful houses. It's a really nice thing to do, and is an easy walk from downtown.

We loved strolling through the Historic District. We picked up a map at the visitor center for the Villa Finale House after touring that house. It's not crowded and a nice change from the Riverwalk crowds.
