We wanted to do something outside of the River Walk area on the day we had a rental car. Our visit was mainly drive through with short walks. It is a very large park with many interesting stopping spots. The Japanese/Chinese tea garden is a...More

It is fun to drive through, not sure I would walk through. If using picnic tables, bring your own tablecloth, so your table will be really clean. It is best to drive through it and go eat a hamburger at the Sonic on Broadway! Better...More

Very large park located just north of the downtown area has something for everyone. The Zoo, Japanese Tea Garden, and Witte Museum are located either in the park, or very close by. Park itself has plenty of running and hiking trails, picnic tables, and shade...More

We were pleased to see so many active people in the city. Joggers of all ages were out in abundance even before the sun went down.

Lots of things for your 4 legged friends to smell. Lots of shade for hot days. Beautiful scenery with a stream? flowing through most of the trail. Drive or walk 2 min and take your pooch to the Tea Gardens for extra fun. Better than...More

Nice park with great potential but just too many homeless and garbage around. Its a travesty considering the cost to live this close to downtown. The dogs are not picked up after and makes it a bit nasty. SA, you could do better.

With delicious BBQ from a nearby but well known spot, we drove through and found a place to "picnic". Lots of families were out doing the same, playing games, flying kites, enjoying the fall weather. This followed our zoo visit and was a good respite...More

New(ish) to the San Antonio area and looking for a good picnic spot. We ended up at Brackenridge and chose a spot next to the water. Wasn't all that scenic but was mostly secluded. The park was just okay but will visit again to see...More

Type in "San Antonio Zoo" for more information. The zoo opens at 9 a.m. The weather is warm there so going early is an advantage. It is a lovely zoo and a great train ride through the park. Your family will love... More
