Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very welcoming staff and members. Walking on the Riverwalk, this historic house stood out. As I searched for the name of it I realized it was saved as one of my Must sees for San Antonio. Watch the football game and visited a couple of hours. Would definitely go back.

Definitely a historical post. as soon as you walk into this, the oldest VFW Post in Texas you are welcomed by the historical building, the dedication to numerous Veterans and memorabilia to them. Half of the parking lot is separated into an outdoor live music venue. Be sure to check this place out on Friday and Saturday nights.

A historic location with a mission. Support the local VFW where everyone is welcome and there is some history and and a welcoming group of veterans.

I am a lifetime member of Post 9174. They did not know that. My wife and i walked in and someone from the other aide of the bar had already paid for our beer. Who does that? Great atmosphere! Historic!

Very nice building that used to be a private mansion. Built at the turn of the 20th century. It is now both a museum and the home of the oldest VFW Post in Texas. Post has been in the mansion since the end of WWII. Got s guided tour and I'm not even a veteran

Was here for a friend's retirement party. Very lively place and open to the public. Had lots of activities going on for members and other people. Wishing that my local post was as good.

And if you are a veteran there is a bar... Very interesting and you can walk to it on the Riverwalk, right before the Pearl cultural district. It was founded right after the First World War and is the oldest VFRW Post in Texas. And its still going strong. A great congregating place for Veterans in this low key but decidedly military town.

We met some friends for a cold beer and a little quiet time, To our surprise they were having live music. we sat outside listening to the band and enjoying the music.
you have to go to bar inside to get drinks, but with reasonable prices, it's no biggie. Fun , friendly and close to home.
