Pretty good tour. Only complaint is that the tour is slightly shorter than expected but overall you get a good idea of the history behind Salem.

Unlike its more famous cousin in Boston, the primary purpose of the Salem Freedom Trail is to pass you by as many local businesses as possible while taking you between the few real landmarks in town. Aside from the Peabody-Essex Museum, the House of Seven Gables and the Customs House, there really is very little in town that has not... More

I found it distracting to move three centuries from historic to local businesses presentation. For me it was confusing as I felt like I was drifting in and out of advertisements for local businesses.

The Salem historical tour is well laid out, and like the Boston Freedom Trail, they used red paint to outline the path for tourists to take. There is a big difference between this tour in Boston – Boston is ONLY focused on the historical points and the Salem Tour seems to also be interested in leading tourists by businesses and... More

First of all, I have to admit we were not there at the best time to be moving around in a crowd....we were there two weekends before Halloween, a fall festival was going on and the downtown area was packed. Our guide, who was supposed to be a highwayman, seemed more interested in honing his stand-up act than giving serious... More

Growing up, and hearing of the tragedy of the Salem WitchTrials.. I had always wanted to visit the haunted town. My husband suprised me with the vacation and off we went. This was my first time being further north than oklahoma and I absolutely adored the hospitality and charm of Salem. The walking tour was very informative but wear comfy... More

Spent a wonderful full day in Salem MA, followed all points of the Heritage Trail, and did a bit of wandering on my own. Besides the obvious visit to the Witch House and Museum, and all connnected with the infamous witch trails, be sure to see Pickering Wharf, and the House of Seven Gables, (they have a very good guided... First trip to Salem. The city, waterfront and parks are absolutely beautiful. We were visiting for only a day so we wanted to see as much as possible. We realize now we will have to go back for at least a full weekend. The best part of our visit was a tour called "Salem's Heritage Trail". We signed up for... More
