We have not been to San Xavier del Bac in several years. It's always been beautiful and unique, inside and outside. But now it's expanded and much better run with excellent tour guides. Take the time to wander in and out and take the guided tour. Allow a couple of hours to take in the beauty of the setting and... More

This is a well kept up mission. It was just gorgeous. They are working on restoring parts of but it is still very beautiful.

It's always very windy out there, but worth it. Beautiful chapel, always being restored - the heat is hard on it.

The foundations for a church were started here by a Jesuit priest, Father Kino, in 1700. SAN Xavier was finished in 1797. It rises majestically above the desert floor, visible for miles, and is known as the White Dove of the Desert. Its history is worth learning about by attending the tour. I cannot adequately describe its beauty. Just go!

The plaza in front of the mission was a large open space surrounded by native american vendors selling fry bread, tacos and crafts.

A clear day and the mission is a thing of beauty. Incredible. We walked through the grounds and there were native Americans frying flat bread in booths near the mission. A lot of fun.

We stopped by on our last day as we heard it was not to be missed. So glad we did - beautiful inside - wish we had more time to spend there. Next time will definitely go back.
